Obituary of Christy Pappadouplos

Christy Pappadouplos, 87 of Peabody, died Thursday morning at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Stalios and Katina (Kirlis) Pappadouplos. He was a life long resident of Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools. He was a veteran of World War II who served with the United States Army. He served in the Rhineland and in Central Europe and was a Prisoner of War in that region. He was the recipient of the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with 2 Bronze Service Stars and a Good Conduct and Victory Ribbon as well. After the war, Christy worked in the leather industry at the Phenney Smidt Tanneries for over 40 years before retiring. He was a life member of the DAV Division 100 in Peabody and during his retirement, he spent time with the Peabody Council on Aging. He also loved to go bowling and dancing. Christy is survived by his three sons, Dana and his wife Lynn Pappadouplos of FL, Mark and his wife Cyndi Pappadouplos and Scott Pappadouplos, all of GA, his two daughters, Anne and her husband Thomas Gruntkosky of Beverly and Diane and her husband Brian Davidson of Salem, his sisters, Helen L’Italien of WI, Effie Barbrick of Peabody and Katherine Spiers of Salem, and is also survived by nine grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Steven Pappas, Anne Denault, and Pauline LeBlanc. His Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
