Obituary of Mary (Pappageorge) Evangelista
Mary (Pappageorge) Evangelista, 85, of Peabody, died early Friday morning at her home following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Maurice Evangelista with whom she shared 42 years of marriage.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Demetrioes and Kaliope (Giacomis) Pappageorge. She was raised, educated and a lifelong resident of Peabody.
She was a shaver for ten years with the Duchess Shoe’ s in Salem, prior to retiring in 1973. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing.
Besides her loving husband, she is survived by a brother, John Pappageorge of Peabody, a sister, Katherine Oppito of Peabody, two nieces, Elaine McCormack of Salem and Julia Dee Pappageorge of Peabody and is also survived by several cousins. She was the sister of the late Charles and Stephen Pappageorge.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, at the 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
Donations may be made in her name to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
