Obituary of Paul L. O'Toole
Paul Laurence O’Toole,77, of West Peabody, died Friday at the Beverly Hospital in Beverly after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of 54 years of marriage to Mary (Riley) O’Toole. He was born in Boston on January 11, 1932, the son of the late Peter and Mary (O’Malley) O’Toole was raised and educated there graduating from Roslindale High School. He had resided in Peabody for the past 53 years. Paul was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Navy Air command unit.
He had been employed with the New England Tel and Tel Company starring as a lineman in the Arlington and Somerville districts prior to his discharge as a contract work inspector from the Vorizen Company.
He love to go fishing and camping and was an instructor with Troop 93 Boy Scouts of America at St. Adelaide’s for many years. Paul was a founding and very active member of St. Adelaide’s Church serving as an usher, a Eucharistic minister, a member of the Holy Name Society, the Couples Club and helped for many years at the Blitz/Bingo program. He and his wife Mary had served for many years with the Marriage Preparation group at St. Adelaide’s and also were involved with the Marriage Encounter program for many years. He had been a member of the Lynnfield Knights of Columbus.
Surviving him besides his wife are his eight children, John O’Toole of Hampstead, NH, William O’Toole of Cambridge, Maine, James O’Toole of Franklin, MA, Mary Odian of Wenham, Margaret Pizza of Dracut, Ann Jones of Wilmington, Barbara Galatis of Amesbury and Carol O’Toole of Peabody, two brothers, Edward O’Toole of West Roxbury and James O’Toole of New Haven, Ct., a sister, Marie Bovard of Danbury, CT., Thirteen Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Catherine Cohen who died two years ago.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St., West Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Adelaide’s Church memorial fund, 708 Lowell St. West Peabody, MA 01960 in his memory.
