Obituary of Nikki (Sclavounos) Kendall

Nikki (Elpiniki Sclavounos) Kendall, 84, of Peabody, died on Thursday January 7, 2010. She was the loving wife of Ernest Kendall with whom she shared over 57 years of marriage. Born in Peabody on July 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Leonidas and Caliope (Vorias) Sclavounos, both of Greece. Nikki was a life long resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1942 and was later inducted to Peabody’s Athletic Hall of Fame in November 1996. After high school, Nikki attended the Fay School for Women in Boston. She worked for the United States Air Force as a civilian in Boston and was later transferred to the Air Force Plant Representative at the Lynn General Electric Company. She was an active member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church. Nikki was known for her skills in cooking and the arts, and enjoyed many trips to Hawaii and particularly cherished her weekends in Ogunquit, Maine. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son Lewis Kendall of Rhode Island, a daughter, Dr. Joan Kendall DiMarchi and her husband Dr. James DiMarchi of Honolulu, Hawaii. She also leaves one sister Mary Andreadakis of Sandwich, five grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer, and Bryan Kendall of Rhode Island, and Lea and Dylan DiMarchi of Honolulu, HI, a great grandchild, Kyra Kerbec of RI and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by the family and friends. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church, St., Peabody, followed a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM.
