Alexander Al Budesky
PEABODY Alexander Al Budesky, 82, beloved husband of Doris Y. (Guilbault) Budesky, died Monday morning at Salem Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Mark F. and Amelia (Chikovsky) Budesky, and was a lifelong resident of the city. He graduated from Peabody High School.
He worked with the Citizens Conservation Corps (CCC) in Colorado, and in Moosehead Lake in Maine before enlisting in the United States Army.
Mr. Budesky was a veteran of World War II, with service in the Army. He was a survivor of the Attack on Pearl Harbor. He was stationed on the Solomon Island Campaign and Guadalcanal.
He was President of B & T Construction from 1949 to 1964 in partnership with Bill Taeger. He also served as Clerk of the Works at Peabody High School from 1964 to 1967, served as City of Peabody Building Inspector from 1967 to 1979, City of Salem Assistant Building Inspector from 1980 to 1981, then was employed at Bessom and Tilton from 1981 to 1987 as an Insurance Adjuster for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, and retired 17 years ago in 1987.
He was a member of the Masons, Jordan Lodge in Peabody and the V.F.W. Post 1011 in Peabody.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Y. (Guilbault) Budesky of Peabody, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage; two sons and a daughter-in-law & fiancée , Alexander B. Budesky & fiancée Karen Foote of Peabody and Mark F. & Pam Budesky of Minnesota; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna L. & Tom Powers of Vermont; six grandchildren, Alexis Budesky of Peabody, Tommy Powers and Johnny Powers, both of Vermont, Markie Budesky, Michael Budesky, and Amelia Budesky, all three of Minnesota; one sister, Elaine Huegelmann of Chicago, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Nick Budesky, and sisters Jan Budesky and Mary Fotheringham.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 9 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M.
Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
