Obituary of Paul T. Zipper

Paul T. Zipper, 72, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died Friday morning at E.N. Rogers Memorial Veteran’s Hospital in Bedford following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Phyllis (Luciano) Zipper with whom he shared over 50 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Frank and Gladys (Crawford) Zipper. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1954. He has lived in Peabody for the past 45 years. After high school, Paul entered the United States Air Force and served his country honorably during the Korean War and was discharged in July of 1958. After the war, he worked for over 39 years as a machine operations supervisor for the Houghton Mifflin Company in Burlington before retiring a few years ago. Paul was very active in the community and loved coaching youth sports and was a member of the Peabody Boosters. He also was very active in the Knights of Columbus, Leo Council 508 in Peabody and served for over 30 years as beano chairman. Besides his loving wife, Paul is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul and Beatrice Zipper of Haverhill, John Zipper of Frisco, TX, and Michael and Gayle Zipper of Salem, two daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryle and Fausto D’Amelio of Natick, and Beverley Zipper of Danvers, a brother, Frank Zipper of Lynn, a sister, Claire Hinman of Swampscott, and is also survived by eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Bob, James, and Edward Zipper, and Ruth Lang. His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
