Obituary of Shirley F. (Cantelmo) Olson

Shirley F. (Cantelmo) Olson PEABODY—Shirley F. (Cantelmo) Olson, 83, beloved wife of the late Harry W. Olson, died unexpectedly Sunday evening at the North Shore Medical Center—Union Hospital in Lynn following a brief illness. Born in Marlboro, she was the daughter of the late John and Rita (Dwyer) Cantelmo. She lived in Lynn for several years, and lived in Peabody for most of her life. She graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1945. Mrs. Olson worked as an assistant admitting officer with J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody for 18 years before retiring in 1989. Shirley was a member of the Retired State, County & Municipal Employees Association of Massachusetts, Inc., the Peabody Council on Aging, and the Peabody Historical Society & George Peabody House Museum. She was a communicant at St. Ann’s Church and she had also been at St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by: three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dianne M. Olson, Suzanne M. & Dan Decourcy, and Mary T. & Gerry Orne all of Peabody; five grandsons, John, Michael, Timothy, and Robert Decourcy and Harrison Orne all of Peabody; two great-grandsons, Jared and Trevor Decourcy both of New Hampshire, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by a sister Mary Ann Catelmo. Her funeral will be held on Thursday Jan. 21, 2010 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Ann’s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
