Obituary of Mary E. "Marie" (McGrath) Zani

Mary E. “Marie” (McGrath) Zani, 88, of Billerica and a long time resident of Peabody, died early Tuesday morning at the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley in North Billerica. She had been the devoted wife of the late Silvio J. Zani who died in 1983. She was born in Peabody on August 31, 1921, the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Luby) McGrath and had resided most of her life here before moving to Danvers in 1998. She had resided at the Billerica Crossings in Billerica for the past nine years. Marie had been a secretary at the Eastman Geletine Corp in Peabody for 26 years prior to her retirement. While in Peabody, she and her husband were active members of St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody. Marie loved to travel and had been an avid beano player at Billerica Crossings. She cherished being with her family. Surviving her are a nephew, Robert G. Mogavero and his wife Gloria of Georgetown, MA, a niece, Susan Hamm and her husband Richard of Tewksbury, MA, her grandnieces and grandnephews, Michael D’Onofrio and his wife Meghan and Aleece D’Onofrio all of Tewksbury, and Max and Madeleine Mogavero both of Georgetown, a great, grandniece, Daniella D’Onofrio of Tewksbury. She was the sister of the late Ruth Mogavero of Peabody. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility. Her Funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
