Obituary of Antonio Teixeira

Antonio Teixeira, 82, of Peabody, died early Monday morning at the Union Hospital, Lynn after a 6 month illness. He was the husband of Generosa (Batista) Teixeira with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. He was born in Covelo, Portugal on April 1, 1923, the son of the late Antonio and Amelia (Rosario) Teixeira and had resided in Peabody for the past 39 years. He had been employed in the Leather Industry for 20 years and had worked at the Henry Leather Co of Peabody prior to his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He loved to Garden both vegetables and flowers and enjoyed being with his family. Surviving him besides his wife are 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Antonio J. Teixeira of Peabody and Leonel and Maureen Teixeira of Middleton, a daughter, Nancy Teixeira of Peabody; a brother, Armando Teixeira of Peabody and Portugal, and 2 sisters, Martha Martins of Peabody and Maria Antunes of Beverly, 3 grandchildren, Ryan, Erica, and Haley Teixeira of Middleton and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anibal Teixeira and Margaret Ferreira. His funeral will be held on Friday form the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 9:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody at 10 am. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St. Peabody facility . Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
