Obituary of Edward James "Edzu" Tyburc

Edward James “Edzu” Tyburc, 38, of Peabody, died following a 22-year battle with liver disease on Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. Edzu was born on July 31, 1971, in Salem, son of Edward J. “Eddie” Tyburc Jr. and Dorothy J. “Dottie” (Kokoras) Tyburc of Peabody. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from the Peabody Vocational High School Class of 1990 and pursued his education for 2 years at the Marine Mechanic Institute in Florida. Edzu was a lifelong resident of Peabody. Edzu was employed as a marine mechanic for many years and as an avid cyclist he also built his own motorcycle. He enjoyed his family, fishing with his dad and friends, shooting pool, working on boats and was always there to help anyone with mechanical problems. In addition to his parents of Peabody with whom he lived, he is survived by his sister and her husband, Lisa D. and Jason Griffith of Dover, NH; his 2 nieces, Nicole E. and Sarah J. Griffith of NH; his aunts and uncles, Cynthia and Michael Ransom, Phyllis Serino and George Salfrank, and Christina Harrison all of Peabody; his godmother, Ourania Koutelias of Salem; his cousins, Ron Ransom of Peabody, Robyn and Steve Follis, and Steven and Jacob Follis all of Danvers, and very close friends, Rod Fessenden and Larky Exarchos both of Peabody and his many other friends. His grandparents James and Bessie Kokoras, and Edward J. Tyburc Sr. and Esther Tyburc predeceased him. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a service at 10 a.m. at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions be made in Edzu’s memory to the Edward James Tyburc Memorial Fund, C/O Peabody Municipal Federal Credit Union, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody MA 01960. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
