Obituary of Dahlia F. (Martin) DiCroce

Dahlia (Martin) Di Croce, 94, formerly of Marblehead, died peacefully Saturday at the Devereux House Nursing Center in Marblehead after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Henry Di Croce. She was born in Peabody, MA on August 4, 1915, the daughter of the late John S. and Wilhelmina (Cabeceirais) Martin and was educated here graduating from Peabody High School in 1933. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Simmons College in 1937. She first worked in the family business, the Trimont Leather Company of Peabody until she married her husband in 1947. She went back to School and received a Masters Degree in Education in 1962 from Salem State College. She then became a teacher in the Fourth Grade in Ipswich for 3 years and then taught the 5th grade at the North Beverly Elementary School for 26 years prior to her retirement in 1991. Dahlia served as President of the North Shore Simmons Alumni Club from 1958- 1962. She had been a member of the MASS Retired Teachers Association, a former member of the Corinthian Yacht Club and also belonged to many other organizations. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Hetty and David Jackman of Marblehead, a son and daughter-in-law, John and Susan DiCroce of Manchester, NH, her four cherished grandchildren, David and Heather Jackman both of New York , NY, and Jake and Chris DiCroce both of Manchester, NH and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Violet Murphy. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady, Star of the Sea Church in Marblehead at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
