Obituary of Marguerite Antonia (Disario) Canavan
Marguerite Antonia (Disario) Canavan, 95, formerly of Peabody and East Boston, wife of the late Thomas J. Canavan, died with her daughter and son-in law at her side on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the Maplewood Care and Rehabilitation Center in Amesbury.
Mrs. Canavan was born on February 28, 1914, in Boston, daughter of the late Gabriel and Caroline (Lapore) Disario. She was raised and educated in East Boston and moved to Peabody in 1962.
Mrs. Canavan was employed for 20 years as a waitress at Brigham’s Restaurant at the Northshore Shopping Center and at the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers following their relocation. Mrs. Canavan was so proud of her entire family who will remember her for baking "the best brownies in the world". She excelled in sewing, loved to sing, walk at the Northshore Mall, and she and her husband enjoyed dancing for many years.
Mrs. Canavan is survived by her children, Sandra A. Deveaux and her husband Robert of Amesbury, Patrice Martin of Hampton, NH, and James P. Canavan of Peabody; a brother and his wife, Paul and Dorothy Disario of CA; 9 grandchildren, Dawn, Alicia, Julie, Tracy, Erin, Rachel, Tara, Meghan and Kellie; 12 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Gillian, Madelyn, Henry, Antonio, Téa, Tyler, Ryan, Kayla, Mikayla, Colin and J.J. and many nieces and nephews. A grandson, Jarret and a great grandson, Tristan, and five of her siblings predeceased Mrs. Canavan.
Mrs. Canavan’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February, 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. As per her request there will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472. Arrangements are by the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody.
