Obituary of Joanne Collins

Joanne (Gioia) Collins, 52, of Peabody, died unexpectedly Sunday evening at the Lahey Clinic in Peabody. She was the devoted wife of John Collins with whom she shared over 36 years of marriage. Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of Gloria (Maccini) Gioia of Peabody and the late Joseph Gioia. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1974. After high school, she attended Essex Aggie in Danvers and received her Associates Degree in Nursing and worked as a LPN throughout the North Shore, the last at Cedar Glen Nursing Home in Danvers. Besides her devoted husband John, Joanne is survived by her two loving sons, Jared and Trevor Collins, both of Peabody, a brother, Steven Gioia of Peabody and by two sisters, Susan Gioia of Danvers, and Tracey Gioia of Georgetown. A private Funeral Service was held on Thursday at St. John’s Church in Peabody.
