Obituary of Bernice Laura (Williams) Swain

. Bernice Laura (Williams) Swain, 87, of Peabody, died Sunday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late James Swain with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage. Born in Madison, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Glendon and Beatrice (LeBlanc) Williams. She was raised and educated in Saugus and was a graduate of Saugus High School, class of 1940. Bernice has lived in Peabody for over 59 years raising her family and attending St. Ann’s Church as well. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Mary Swain of Newburyport, a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Michael Brown of Woodstock, GA, a brother, Glendon Williams Jr. of Houston, TX, a sister, Jean Edwards of Newport Richey, FL., her beloved grandchildren, Colleen, Laurie, Kevin, Kristen, Jason, Jesse, Justin, Jordan, Andrea, and Christopher, and is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Valerie Wilson, and sister of the late Shirley Cordeiro and Barbara Meagher, and grandmother of the late Kelly Swain. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be private. If friends should desire, donations can be made in her name to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.
