Obituary of Senhorinha (Silva) Bettencourt

Senhorinha (Silva) Bettencourt, 96, of Peabody, wife of the late Verissimo Bettencourt died early Friday at the Peabody Glenn Nursing Home, Peabody, after a long illness. She was born in Baltic, Ct. on July 19,1913, the daughter of the late Jose Faustinho and Rosa (Candida) Silva and at the age of 1 moved with her family to Graciosa, Azores, Portugal where she was raised . She moved back to the United States in 1953 and she settled with her family in Peabody in 1956. Senhorinha had been an assembler for the Maynard Plastics Company of Peabody and at the Duchess Shoe Company of Salem for many years prior to her retirement. She had been a long time member of Our Lady of Fatima Church of Peabody and the Holy Ghost Society. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Maria and Larry Nuttall , Manuel Bettencourt and Noelia and Antonio Ortins all of Peabody, Else S. and Elzira Bettencourt of Andover, MA, and Joseph and Catherine Bettencourt of Billerica, 13 grandchildren, 13 Great grandchildren , five great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Walsh Avenue, Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
