Obituary of Gloria May (Soper) Moronie

Gloria May (Soper) Moronie, 78, of Lynn, died Sunday at the Meadow View Care and Rehab. Center in North Reading with her family by her side after a long illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Domenick Moronie. She was born in Lynn, MA on May 1, 1931, the daughter of the late Harold and Jessie (Slade) Soper, and was raised and educated there graduating from Lynn English High School in 1948. She had resided in Peabody for 31 years before moving back to Lynn 21 years ago. Gloria had been a nurses assistant in the emergency room at the former J.B, Thomas Hospital for 27 years prior to her retirement in 1991. She loved to cook for her family and also enjoyed baking and knitting. She liked to travel and was especially close with her sister and her family often doing things together. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Laurence J. and Denise Moronie of Lynn, a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Lou and Charles Spinale of Barrington, NH, her sister, Marilyn S. Moore of Hopkinton, MA, her two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Jean Soper and Robert and Linda Soper all of Lynn, her cherished grandchildren, Corinne Spinale of Jamica Plain, Jamie Moronie of Lynn, Erin Spinale, Eric and his wife Tawna Spinale all of NH and Jennifer Moronie of Maine, a great grandchild, Colton Spinale of NH and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her Funeral Service will be held there on Friday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Alan Ferguson of the First Church of Christ, of Lynn, officiating. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
