Obituary of Nicola J. "Nick" Tracchia

Nicola J. “Nick” Tracchia, 74, husband of Donna E. (Rollinson) Tracchia of Peabody, died on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Salem Hospital with his family at his side. Nick was born on February 16, 1936, in Peabody, son of the late John and Jenny (Barone) Tracchia. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School Class of 1958. In 1960, Nick enlisted into the United States Army and served until receiving his honorable discharge in 1965. Nick began working with his father at the family Tracchia Construction Company in Peabody. He later owned & operated the business before retiring in 1998 due to heart complications. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his 4 grandchildren whom he cherished. Nick will be missed by his many friends whom he would meet each morning at Artie’s Place for coffee. In addition to his wife of 43 years, Nick is survived by his 2 daughters and their husbands, Deanna D. Tracchia-Pinto and Albert Pinto, and Karen L. Tracchia-Silva and Anthony “Tony” Silva all of Peabody; his 4 grandchildren, Albert Pinto Jr. and Alana Pinto, Anthony A. J. Silva and Nick Silva all of Peabody; his siblings, Charles Tracchia of Haverhill, Edward Tracchia of Malden, David Tracchia and Pauline Langley both of Peabody; a brother-in-law, Ronald Rollinson of Florida; many nieces, nephews and friends. His brother John “Sonny” Tracchia predeceased him. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. Cremation will follow the services on Wednesday. The family requested that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th floor, Boston, MA 02110.
