Obituary of Calliope "Kay" (Assiminas) Kokoreas

Calliope “Kay” (Assiminas) Kokoreas, 93, of Peabody, wife of the late Louis Kokoreas, died on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody. Mrs. Kokoreas was born on November 1, 1916, in Peabody, daughter of the late Emanuel and Sophia (Despinas) Assiminas. She was raised, educated and a lifelong resident of Peabody. Mrs. Kokoreas devoted her entire life to her family and later was so proud of her grandchildren and her great grandchildren whom she cherished. As hobbies, she enjoyed painting, artwork, reading and sewing. Mrs. Kokoreas is survived by her 2 daughters and their spouses, Sophia and Ted Grevelis of Peabody, and Joyce and Bernie Kokinos of Colorado Springs, CO; her grandchildren, Ted and Theri Grevelis and Stephanie Grevelis, Christopher Kokinos and his partner Chad Miyashiro, and Nicole and Kevin Pedigo; her great grandchildren, Benjamin and Forrest Grevelis, and Michael, Nicholas and Sophia Pedigo; 2 sisters, Elaine Assiminas and Bess Phelan both of Salem, many nieces and nephews. Her siblings George Assiminas, Charles March and Peter Assiminas predeceased her. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 12 noon from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody followed by a service at 1 p.m. at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos Street, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Monday, March 1, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos Street, Peabody.
