Obituary of Mary A. (Mc Auliffe) Kenney

Mary (McAuliffe) Kenney PEABODY—Mary (McAuliffe) Kenney, 96, beloved wife of the late John E. Kenney, died peacefully at her home on Saturday afternoon following a brief illness. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Catherine (Curtis) McAuliffe. She grew up living in Watertown and Cambridge, and graduated from Trinity Catholic High School in Cambridge. She lived in Peabody for many years. Mrs. Kenney was a bookkeeper with the former McGivern’s Furniture in Peabody for years before retiring. Mary was an avid gardener, a member of the West Peabody Garden Club, and wildlife enthusiast. She was creatively gifted as a doll creator, and she enjoyed making many dolls. She was also a collector of dolls. She is survived by two sons, Leo Kenney of Peabody and Philip Kenney of Aurora, CO; three grandchildren, Scott and Michael Kenney and Shawn Benhart, and she leaves several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Leo, Daniel and Robert McAuliffe and a sister Florence Forgeus. A visitation will be held Monday from 5 – 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Tuesday at 9 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Vernal Pool Association, P.O. Box 2295, Peabody, MA 01960 or to a wildlife organization of one’s choice.
