Obituary of Ken D. Farrar
Ken D. Farrar
PEABODY—Ken D. Farrar, 30, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday morning March 20, 2010.
Born in Salem, he was a lifelong resident of Peabody. He graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1997. He then went to the University of Richmond in Virginia, graduating with the Class of 2002, with a degree in Criminal Justice. He was currently pursuing a Masters Degree with Strayer University.
Ken was a gifted athlete, and lived with football in his blood. He played with some great Peabody High teams, including a Super Bowl winning team, culminating in his being named to the State all-scholastic team in his senior year. In college, he was a three-year starter, two-time All Conference, and played on an Atlantic 10 Championship team. He later was called to try out with the Baltimore Ravens, and other teams in the Arena Football League. After college, he coached at the U-Richmond, at U-Charleston, WV, and Assumption. Ken was a giant with a big heart. Aggressive as he was on the field, he was kind and loving while ready at any time to help people in any way he could.
He will be dearly missed by friends and family, including: his maternal grandmother Janice (McCarthy) Vounessea, his “Mamie”, with whom he lived for 23 years; his mother, Kelly Farrar of Peabody; his aunt, Kathleen Dale Starratt of Peabody, and cousins Brian and Chad Starratt both of Peabody; an uncle Mark Starratt of Peabody; his great-uncle Arthur McCarthy of Peabody, and cousins Arthur McCarthy of Reading, Brian McCarthy of Lynnfield, John McCarthy of Peabody, and Donna Rogers of Middleton; he enjoyed the company of many good friends, especially Scott Van Dyke and David Walsh among others, and he loved his dogs Ginger and Sophie. He was preceded in death by his great-aunt, Patricia McCarthy in January.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday from 5 to 7:30 P.M. followed by a Funeral Service at 7:30 PM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody.
