Obituary of Lillian M. (Clarke) Murray

Lillian M. (Clarke) Murray, 85, of Peabody and formerly of Everett and Revere, died early Wednesday morning at the Union Hospital in Lynn following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Walter H. “Howie” Murray, Jr. Born in Revere, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Lillie Clarke. She was raised and educated in Revere and was a graduate of Revere High School. After high school, Lillian attended Northeastern University and received her degree in Nursing. Lillian first worked at the Soldier’s Home in Chelsea followed by her most rewarding and prideful position, that of head nurse at the Phillips House at Mass General Hospital in Boston. Following her work at Mass General Hospital, she was the administrator at Parkway Manor in Everett for 25 years before finally retiring. She is survived by a daughter, Martha Murray of Peabody, a grandson, Christopher Murray of Lynn, a daughter-in-law, Pamela Murray of Lynn, a brother, Donald Clarke of Atlanta, and a sister, Marion Malmstein of Wakefield. She was the mother of the late Walter “Chip” Murray. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial services will be private.
