Obituary of Mary E. (Rose) Rice

Mary E. (Rose) Rice, 83, of Peabody, entered into eternal rest on Monday evening at the Melrose/Wakefield Hospital following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late James Rice. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Shields) Rose. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1943. Mary was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her children and later her grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching ice skating and she was a judge at various ice skating competitions. Mary also loved gardening and dogs, especially rescued dogs, and is survived by her long time companion and rescue dog, Sammy. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Daniel Brolewicz of Peabody and Cindy Rice of Lynn, a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Richard Jackson of Lynn, 4 grandchildren, Debbie and her husband Dean Downie of Peabody, Karen Anderson of Danvers, John Wlodkowski and his wife Katie of Lynn, and Lianne Wlodkowski and her fiancé William Shepherd, 6 great grandchildren, Krystyna Downie, Keri Anne Anderson, James and Joshua Shepherd, and Aryanna and Devin Wlodkowski and is also survived a niece, Dana and her husband Michael Schmorrow of Haverhill. Following cremation, visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody
