Obituary of Gerald J. Golden

Gerald J. Golden, 90, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died early Sunday morning at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Elizabeth (Dowd) Golden with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage with. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Patrick and Annie (Condon) Golden. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School. After high school, Gerry entered the United States Air Force and served his country for 4 years during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. After the war, he continued his education and received his degree in accounting from Bentley College in Waltham. He worked as an accountant manger in various capacities at the General Electric Company, first in West Lynn and later at the River works Plant before retiring many years ago. Gerry was also a sports fan and enjoyed watching all of Boston’s professional sports teams. Besides his loving wife of 60 years, he is survived by three sons, Gerald D. and his wife Karen Golden of Williamsburg, VA, Patrick Golden of Manchester, NH and Daniel and his wife Irene Golden of Winthrop, and is also survived by four grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by many brothers and sisters. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friend are kindly invited to attend. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
