Obituary of Marian L. (Jermyn) Roltsch
. Marian L. (Jermyn) Roltsch, 88, of Peabody, formerly of Salem, died early Saturday morning at her home following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Arthur O. Roltsch with whom she shared over 49 years of marriage with.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Mary Ellen (Connolly) Jermyn. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1940. She later graduated from Mansfield Beauty Academy in Boston.
During World War II, Marian was trained as a Red Cross Nurse’s Aid and served at Salem Hospital, J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody and at Winthrop Army Base Hospital in Winthrop.
After the war, she worked at the former Webbers Department Store Beauty Shop in Salem and from 1969 until 1983; she worked in the mail order department at the Deerskin Trading Post in both the Danvers and Peabody locations.
Marian loved spending time with her children and later, grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed being a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and in her retirement, became a member of the Peabody Council on Aging. Marion also had a love of animals and over the years had many pets which she loved. One especially, her dog, Tippy.
She is survived by her three loving children, Rosemary and her husband Fred LeBel of Groveland, Gary and his wife Nina Roltsch of Peabody and Faye and her husband Kevin Seth of Peabody, her four grandchildren, Suzanne and her husband Jason Hayden, Gregg and his wife Karen LeBel, Melanee and her husband Daniel Collins, and Gary Roltsch, her great grandchildren, Max and Jack Hayden, Jordyn, Cameron and Derek Collins, and Molly and Jacob LeBel. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Jenkins of Peabody, her brother, John Jermyn and his wife Gloria of Salem, and a sister-in-law, Theresa Smith of Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Funeral services and burial will be private.
