Obituary of Antonio Manuel Botelho

Antonio Manuel Botelho, 58, beloved husband of Maria Fatima (Sousa) Botelho of Lynn, died unexpectedly at the Massachusetts General Hospital on Saturday evening. Born in San Miguel, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of Laura (Tavares) DeMedeiros of Peabody, and the late Francisco DeMedeiros. He lived there in his youth. While living there, he was a Police Officer and also served in the Portuguese Army during the Angolan Conflict. He emigrated to the United States in May of 1969, lived in Peabody for 8 years, then lived the last 25 years in Lynn. Mr. Botelho worked as a Machine Operator at Bicknell & Fuller in Peabody for several years before retiring due to health reasons. An avid Outdoorsman, he loved fishing and was a member of the Danvers Fish & Game Club, loved playing soccer as it was his favorite sport to watch-- and played on the CLC Soccer Team of Peabody, and was very dedicated to his family and friends. He is survived by: his wife, Maria Fatima (Sousa) Botelho of Lynn, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage; one daughter and son-in-law,, Helen Marguerida & Pedro Jorge of Lynn; two sons and daughters-in-law, Francisco Manuel& Noelle-Marie Botelho of Lynn and Eric & Paula Botelho of Peabody; eight grandchildren; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank Botelho of Montreal, Canada, John Medeiros and Joe Medeiros, both of Peabody, and Paul Medeiros of Waltham; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Maria Da Rosa, Nelia Soares, and Louisa Perreira , all of Peabody, Leontina Almeida of Lynn, and Helen Quadros of Lowell, a mother-in-law, Maria L. Perreira of Lynn, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and many friends. His funeral will be held on Wednesday from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, MA followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00A.M. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church,Route 114 Peabody/Salem line. Relatives and friends kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 9 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
