Obituary of Joan M. (Leslie) Rich

Joan M. (Leslie) Rich PEABODY—Joan M. (Leslie) Rich, 74, beloved wife of James H. Rich, died Wednesday April 14, 2010, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Hourihan) Leslie. She grew up in Lynn where she attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1952. She then studied at Chandler Business School in Boston. Mrs. Rich was a Secretary with General Electric in Lynn, and then was with Catholic Charities of Peabody and Danvers office for 25 years before retiring in 2005. Joan enjoyed traveling and reading. She was very devoted to her family. As a woman who always helped her family, she will be remembered fondly and with gratitude for her dedication and leading the role as caregiver for most of her life for her family. She is survived by: her husband, James H. Rich of Peabody, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage; one son, James M. Rich of Peabody; one daughter, Deborah A. Rich of Alexandria, VA; a sister, Noreen Donovan of Danvers; four brothers, John Leslie of Lynn, Richard Leslie of Peabody, Robert Leslie of Lynn and Charles Leslie of Salem, and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held on Saturday April 17, 2010 at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 – 8 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
