Obituary of Eduarda Raposo

Eduarda Raposo PEABODY—Eduarda Raposo, 70, beloved wife of the late Mariano Raposo,, died Friday morning at the North Shore Medical Center—Salem Hospital due to complications after a long illness. Born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Maria Ascencao Patricio Medeiros. She lived there for 21 years, then came to the United States, settling in Peabody where she lived for the last 49 years. Mrs. Raposo worked at New England Sportswear in Peabody for several years. Eduarda enjoyed music, especially listening to Elvis Presley. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and gatherings with family and friends, and especially cherished her role as a devoted grandmother of four. She is survived by: one son and daughter-in-law, David & Laurie Raposo of Peabody; a daughter, Melissa Rodriguez of Peabody; four grandchildren, David Raposo, Stephanie Raposo, and Alyssa Raposo, and Elizabeth Rodrigues all of Peabody; one brother, Francisco de Medeiros of Peabody, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Leontina Almeida, and brothers Jorge de Medeiros and Ernesto de Medeiros. Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Tuesday April 20, 2010 from 9 – 10:30 A.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
