Maryann (Tgavalekos) Burke
PEABODY—Maryann (Tgavalekos) Burke, 53, beloved wife of William Burke, died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a brief illness.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late George and Florence (Korumpas) Tgavalekos. She lived in Peabody where she graduated from Peabody High School. She then graduated from North Adams State College, Class of 1979. She was recently studying to pursue a masters degree at Salem State College.
Mrs. Burke enjoyed the field of technology, and worked as a Systems Analyst and Programmer in various capacities. She lived in Texas and Maryland for some time. She returned to the Peabody area, and recently changed her career to education. She has been a Paraprofessional and teaching assistant with the Special Education department with Peabody Public Schools, and recently was dedicated in the English language ELL program.
Maryann enjoyed being in her garden around the house, and was very devoted to her family and friends.
She is survived by: her husband, William Burke of Peabody, with whom she shared over 31 years of marriage; a son, Nicholas Burke of Peabody; a brother and sister-in-law, Terry & Anneli Tgavalekos of Peabody; her mother-in-law, Betty Burke of Pittsfield, MA; two brothers-in-law, Tom & Jane Burke of Seal Beach, CA and Jim & Beverly Burke of Cullman, AL; a sister-in-law, Cathy & David Wilson of Chicopee, MA, and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:30 A.M. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 9:30 A.M. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5 – 8 P.M. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the Kaplan-Family Hospice House, c/o Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
