James P. Walsh
PEABODY—James P. Walsh, 52, died peacefully Saturday morning while surrounded by his family at the Mass General Hospital in Boston following a brief illness.
Born in Salem, he was the son to Genevieve (Manning) Walsh of Peabody and the late John “Jack” Walsh. He grew up in Peabody and lived there many years. He graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School and then continued his education at Merrimack College.
Mr. Walsh was employed in the hospitality industry in several capacities. He was with his brother David at Engine House Pizza in Salem, Palmers Restaurant in North Andover, Bakey’s in Boston, and Halibut Point Restaurant in Gloucester.
Jim was passionate about all things golf, and was a board member at Bass Rocks Golf Club in Gloucester. He enjoyed a round at many places, and traveled to Ireland where he played. He enjoyed life and will be remembered as a good friend, brother, son and cherished uncle.
He is survived by: his mother, Genevieve “Gen” (Manning) Walsh of Peabody; his brothers and sisters-in-law, J. Jeffrey & Lynda Walsh of Beverly, David M. & Susan Walsh of Danvers, and Michael W. & Paula Walsh of Woburn; six nieces & nephews, Matthew & his wife Laura Walsh of Charlestown, Patrick Walsh of Danvers, Kayley, Shawna, Brianna and Michael Walsh all of Woburn. He was preceded in death by his father, John “Jack” Walsh who just died in November 2009.
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 A.M. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to the Mass General Hospital, c/o MGH Development Office, 100 Charles River Plaza, Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114.
