Obituary of David J. Pinto

Peabody, December 10, 2002. David J. Pinto, 74, of Peabody, died early Tuesday morning at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of Doris (Kelly) Pinto with whom he shared over 53 years of marriage. Born and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Espinola) Pinto. He attended Peabody Public Schools and graduated from Peabody High School in 1945. He was a veteran of WWII, having served with the United States Navy aboard the USS President Jackson, based in San Francisco, Ca. Prior to his retirement, he worked for over 20 years as a machinist at the United Shoe in Beverly. He was a member of the Portuguese American War Veterans, Post 1 in Peabody, and he was avid Bowler and enjoyed golfing. Besides his loving wife Doris, he is survived by a son, David J. Pinto, Jr., of Amesbury; 4 daughters and sons-in-laws, Bonnie and Fred Swift of West Newbury, Louise and Bryan Swentosky of Penn Run, PA, Sharon and Richard Rougier of Peabody and Kelly and Michael Brennan of Peabody, and 9 grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Anthony Pinto. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 12:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
