Obituary of Reynold A. "Rey" Soucy

Reynold A. Rey Soucy 80 years, husband of 55 years of Shirley A. (Warren) Soucy of Peabody, died Wednesday at the Hunt Nursing Home in Danvers. Mr. Soucy was born August 9, 1924 in Danvers son of the late Lucien and Roseanna (Robideux) Soucy. He was raised in Danvers and graduated from Danvers High School. At age 17 he began working at GTE Sylvania, then enlisted into the United State Marine Corps in 1943, was an Amphibious Truck Crewman in the Asiatic Pacific Area and saw battle at Iwojima serving active duty until 1945. He reenlisted in 1947 and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1952. Following WWII he returned to GTE Sylvania on Sylvan St. Danvers and was employed for 45 years as a master craftsman until his retirement in 1986. While at Sylvania he pursued his education at Salem State College. He along with his father-in-law Everett Warren built his summer home in Belmont NH. He always stressed that education was never lost, loved classical music, enjoyed gardening, hiking, swimming and mountain climbing. In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by 2 daughters, Gail A. Crissinger of Quincy, Virginia M. Soucy of Peabody; a son and his wife, Reynold P. and Ann Soucy of Rockland; a brother and his wife Armand and Isabelle Soucy of Quincy; a sister and her husband, Lucia Lucy and Frank Bowman of VA; 10 grandchildren, Katie, Amy, Matthew and David Crissinger, Kimberly, Christine, Donald and David Soucy, Gene and Erin Shalvey; a great grandson and was awaiting the birth of 2 great granddaughters in August and many nieces and nephews. Pre deceased by a son, Glenn E. Soucy and his siblings, Marie Rita Wrest, Lucien Joe , Roger, Roland and Phillip Soucy His funeral will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. location, Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday 4 - 7 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers MA 01923.
