Obituary of Helen D. (Theophiles) Triant
Helen D. (Theophiles) Triant, 92, beloved wife of the late Nicholas Triant, died peacefully on Wednesday afternoon at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading while in the comforting presence of her family.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter to the late James and Bessie (Cosmos) Theophiles. She grew up in East Boston, and was a graduate of East Boston High School. She lived in Chelsea for 35 years, and also spent much time in Revere. She recently moved to Saugus to live with her daughter.
Mrs. Triant always delighted in her role as nurturing homemaker. Intelligent as she was, she passed certifications and trainings easily without college study. She was a Senior Clerk Typist and secretary at the Chelsea Soldiers Home, and used her special gifts of getting things done that it seemed as though she practically managed the volunteers at the hospital. She enjoyed her career there for 20 years, retiring in 1986.
Helen was a longtime member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England in Boston. She was active in the Hellenic Women’s Benevolent Association, was a passionate Red Sox fan, enjoyed reading novels among other things. She lived with great joy while hosting a very close family and cooking for everyone.
She will be dearly missed, and is survived by: a daughter Penelope & her husband Nicholas Kanellos of Saugus; four sons, Ross & his wife Angelike Triant of Everett, Dimitri Triantafillakis & his companion Alexandre Drolet of New Haven, CT, William & his wife Gail Triant of Danvers, and George & his wife Janet Triant of East Boston; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her parents and husband, by her five siblings Jennie Theophiles, Georgia Hegner, Speros Theophiles, Stella McGrane, and Mary Ackerman.
Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9:45 A.M. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 A.M. in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England, 514 Parker St., Boston, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
