Obituary of Eleanor Mary Nevins

Eleanor Mary Nevins, 84, of Peabody, died Monday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a long illness. She was born in Peabody, Ma, the daughter of the late Edward and Annie (Melherin) Nevins and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was a graduate of St. John’s High School in 1943 and had attended Salem Commercial Business School. Eleanor was first employed in the accounting dept. of the former A.C. Lawrence Leather Company of Peabody for 22 years until its closing. She then worked in the payroll department of the Peabody School System for 18 ½ years until her retirement in 1990. She had been a communicant of St. John’s Church and a member of the Ladies Sodality there. She is survived by her grand nieces, Melissa Nevins of Freemont , NH, Briana Davis of Peabody and Shaighla Nevins of Boston, her great grand niece and nephew, Mason and Maia Davis of Peabody, and also Suzanne Nevins of Peabody. She was the sister of the late Edward Nevins and Thomas Nevins. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. John’s School Memorial fund, 16 Chestnut St., Peabody, MA 01960 in her memory.
