Obituary of Ann (Anton) Pernokas
Ann (Anton) Pernokas, 89, of Danvers and formerly of Peabody, died Saturday afternoon at her home following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Angelos Pernokas.
Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Constantine and Helen (Gianokopoulis) Anton. She was raised and educated in Lowell and was a graduate of Lowell High School. She later moved to Peabody where she raised her family and lived for over 50 years before moving Danvers nine months ago.
Ann worked for over 25 years in the billing department at GTE Sylvania in Danvers before retiring many years ago. She was a long time member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church and a member of the Daughters of Penelope as well. In her retirement, she attended the Peabody Senior Center and enjoyed knitting.
Family was the center of her attention and she enjoyed raising her children and later she enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was the matriarch of the family and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Ann is survived by a son, Arthur Pernokas of Plaistow, NH, a daughter, Elena Yioulos and her husband Dimitri of Danvers, her four beloved grandchildren, Christina, Andrea, Zoe, and Alexis, and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was the sister of the late Peter and Charles Anton.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 23 at 10:00 AM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9:00 – 9:45 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or St. Vasilios Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
