Obituary of Dorothea (Bisthounis) Anastasopoulos

. Dorothea (Bisthounis) Anastasopoulos, of Peabody, died Monday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was the wife of the late Peter “Larry” Anastasopoulos. Born in Agrinio, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Lambros and Vasiliki (Thanos) Bisthounis. She was raised and educated in Greece and later immigrated to the United States where she has settled in Peabody and had lived for over 60 years. Dorothea worked as an Assembler for the Hottwatt Company in Danvers for over 25 years before retiring many years ago. She enjoyed bowling at the Sunnyside Bowling Alley in Danvers and was a member of the walking club at the North Shore Mall and the Philoptouhos Society. She loved dancing and would go dancing every Saturday night. She also volunteered in the gift shop for the Peabody Counseling on Aging at the Torigian Life Center in Peabody. What she loved most of all was cooking, especially for those in need, but was most important to her was the care and great love for her family. She is survived by a son, Tony and his wife Cathie Anastas of Nashua, NH, her daughter, Jane Nadeau of Peabody, her siblings, Georgia Argetes of Peabody, and Maria, Spiro, Taki, all of Greece and also by her beloved grandchildren, Alex Anastas of Nashua, NH and Marc Nadeau of Peabody. She was the sister of the late Katina, Demo, George and Costa. Her Service will be held on Wednesday June 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM Noon at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
