Obituary of Francis J. Kilroy

Francis J. Kilroy, 72, who resided in Danvers with family for the past 10 years, formerly of Lynn, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, June 24, 2010 at his home. He was the husband of the late Jean C. (Griffin) Kilroy. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Horan) Kilroy. He was raised and educated in Lynn and attended Lynn Public Schools. Frank worked in various capacities throughout his working career. In his earlier years, he owned and operated several restaurants in the Lynn area. He owned and operated Kilroy Roast Beef and later Union Pub, both in Lynn and also he owned and operated Jean’s Snack Bar in Middleton. He left the restaurant business and started his own companies, Kilroy and Son Painting Company, and was the Co-owner / Vice President of American Bridge Products Inc. from 1987 to 1993, both based in Lynn. Finally, before retiring, he worked for the State of Massachusetts as a Business Management Specialist for the Highway Division from 1998 to 2003. Frank was also very active in Lynn Politics and along with his wife campaigned for various politicians in Lynn. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them all in their sports endeavors. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Frank is survived by his companion, Jayne Zannino-Peppe, a son, Frank J, Kilroy, Jr. and his significant other, Darla Johnson of Beverly, Robyn Dempsey of Danvers, and Kelly Kilroy of Peabody, a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and James Ferraro of Peabody, and is also survived by his beloved six grandchildren, Shane and Kelcee Kilroy, Thomas Dempsey, Kenny Elwell, Destiny and Cameron Roork, and by several nieces and nephews. Following cremation, his Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday evening, June 29, 2010 at 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
