Obituary of Francis X. "Frank" Dunleavy

Peabody, December 16, 2002. Francis Frank X. Dunleavy, 80, of Peabody, died early Monday morning at the Kindred Hospital, Peabody, following a brief illness. He was the husband of Catherine (Brawders) Dunleavy with whom he shared over 54 years of marriage. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Michael and Margaret (Morrison) Dunleavy. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody and attended St. John’ s Grammar School and later Peabody public schools. Prior to his retirement, he worked for over 37 years for H.P. Hood Milk Company in both Lynn and Boston. He was a member of Hood’ s Quarter Century Club and St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody. After his retirement, he volunteered at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home and at the Peter Torigian Community Life Center, Peabody. He also was a tremendous booster and supporter of all Salem State’ s Athletic Teams. Besides his loving wife of 54 years, he is survived by a son, Kevin Dunleavy of Lynn; a daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and George Grenier of Peabody; a sister, Mary McDermott of Peabody; he was a surrogate father to his 2 nephews, Glenn Keith of Salem, NH and David Keith of La Jolla, Ca., and is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Kyle & Casey Grenier of Peabody, Jillian & Abby Keith of Salem, NH, and Austin & Sean Keith of La Jolla, CA., and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the brother of the late Joseph and John Dunleavy, Marguerite Manning and Catherine Sis Cronin. His Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody at 9:00 AM, relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
