Gerard Edward Michaud
PEABODY Gerard E. Michaud, 84, formerly of Batchelder Ave, beloved husband of Mary M. (Yale) Michaud, died Monday morning at the Rosewood Nursing Center in Peabody following a brief illness.
Born in Salem on Sept 25, 1917, he was the son of the late Eugene J. & Grace (Bergeron) Michaud. He lived in Lynn during his youth, attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn Classical High School.
During World War II, while in the United States Army, he served as a Welding Instructor while stateside, and later in England as a Radar Technician and Interpreter.
Following the war, he served as Manager of the family business, Michaud Fuel Oil in Lynn for many years. He later was employed by the City of Peabody School Dept.
He was a member of the Franco-American American Veterans Post 161 in Lynn where he served as its Finance Officer and also chaired the committee for the annual Jail Day fund raiser for the disabled. He also enjoyed sports, classical music, nature, and travelling. His greatest enjoyment was being with his family.
Besides his wife, Mary (Yale) Michaud of Peabody, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage, he is survived by: two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothea & Andrew Kuchinsky and Marguerite & Paul Mailloux, both of Peabody; six grandchildren, Frederick Sullivan, Gregory Kuchinsky, Sara Kuchinsky, Kristin La Terza, David Mailloux and Jonathan Mailloux, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of Mary Ann who died in infancy, and also preceded in death by a brother, Henry Michaud and sister Dorothy Downs.
His funeral will be held on Friday at 8 A.M. from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut ST of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in St. Ann’ s Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M.
Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
