Obituary of Thomas J. "Tom" King

Thomas J. “Tom” King, 54, husband of Maureen E. “Moe” (Barna) King of West Newbury, died on Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, with his loving family at his side. Tom was born on May 11, 1956, in Revere, the son of George E. and Mary (Arnold) King. He was raised and educated in Peabody and graduated from Aviation High School in Redondo Beach, CA. In 1979, Tom joined the family business, GTG in Middleton as a partner. Tom’s life revolved around his family and friends. He was an avid golfer and sports fan, and also enjoyed traveling, boating in Maine and most recently indulged in photography. Tom will be well remembered by all for his great sense of humor and generosity. In addition to his wife of West Newbury and his parents of Lynnfield, Tom is survived by his 2 cherished children, Morgan A. King and Thomas J. King, Jr. of West Newbury; 2 brothers and their wives, George E. King Jr. and Maureen King of Boxford, and John A. and Carlee L. King of Lake Oswego, OR; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stephen and Jane Barna of Peabody; 2 aunts, 1 uncle, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. His sister Julie E. Filmore predeceased him in 2003. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday, July 20, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to the American Red Cross Blood Bank, ( www.redcrossblood.org ) 180 Rustcraft Road, Suite 115, Dedham, MA 02026. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
