Obituary of Irene Mary (Marchewka) Glowacki

Irene Mary (Marchewka) Glowacki PEABODY—Irene Mary (Marchewka) Glowacki, of Wilson Terrace, formerly of Driscoll St., beloved wife of the late John Glowacki, passed peacefully Monday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers at the age of 91. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter to the late Michael and Kathryn (Wielba) Marchewka. She was a lifelong resident of the city, and graduated from Peabody High School. Mrs. Glowacki was a Teacher’s Aide for the City of Peabody Public Schools, and was assigned to the Carroll School. Also known as Irene to her friends, Mary was a longtime and active communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Peabody before it closed. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Society of St. Joseph’s Church, the Peabody Golden Agers, and the Peabody Council on Aging. She enjoyed traveling and retirement living in Florida with her husband. She is survived by three daughters, Joann Prochniak of Peabody, Katherine Collier of Florida, and Mimi Nash of Texas; a son, John M. Stone of North Carolina; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Stella Wojnoski and Helen Marchewka. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 7 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. facility, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather at the funeral home on Thursday July 22, 2010 at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peabody. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
