Obituary of Frederick J. Boylan
Frederick J. Boylan, 92, of Peabody, died Sunday at the Beverly Hospital after a short illness. A lifelong resident of Peabody, he was born here on March 8, 1919 and following the death of his mother, Mary M. (Boylan) Griffin at his birth, was raised by his grandparents, Francis J. and Mary Boylan. He was a graduate of Peabody High School and during WW 11 he served overseas with the US Army during the Occupational Force in Japan before his discharge in 1946.
He was first employed in the Leather Industry in Peabody for Twenty years and later worked at the Airfreight Services at Logan Airport for 15 years prior to his retirement 28 years ago.
Fred had been a member of the VFW, Post 1011 of Peabody and enjoyed rooting for his New England Patriots, the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins sports teams. He also liked to go Square Dancing and for many years enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, California and other destinations. He had been a coach with the Peabody Little League . He was the husband of the late Pauline E. (Tatterfield) Boylan who died in 1975 and presently the husband of 22 years to Alberta (Jackson) Boylan.
Surviving him besides his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, John “Jack” and Harriet Boylan of Peachtree City, GA, two daughters, Barbara M. Joyce of Byfield and Patricia Rohrbacher of Copley, Ohio, five grandchildren, Shawn Joyce of Byfield, Michael Boylan and Katie Dixon of Georgia, Cheryl Rohrbacher of Ohio and Gary Rohrbacher of Lexington, KY, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church , Lynn St., Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to charity of your choice.
