Obituary of Everett C. "Bob" Shedden

Everett “Bob” C. Shedden PEABODY—Everett “Bob” C. Shedden, 83, beloved husband of Ethel J. (Mulley) Shedden, died peacefully on Saturday afternoon, July 31, 2010 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Reginald & Louie (Blake) Shedden. He grew up in Everett and graduated from Everett High School. He lived in Peabody for the last 58 years. He first studied Draftsmanship at Mass Trade School, and later studied and received his degree in engineering from Northeastern University. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II, as an aviation ordinance man serving PB4Y-2 Privateers. Mr. Shedden worked for Stone & Webster early in his career. Most of his employment was with Charles T. Main Engineering of Boston for a 38 year career. He was a Professional Engineer, and after retirement worked as a Consultant with Stop & Shop headquarters in Quincy for many of their latest built stores. He was a member of the Masons, a Past Grand Master of the Jordan Lodge of Peabody, the Shriner Aleppo Temple of Wilmington, and the Scottish Rite 32 Degree. He was a member of the American Legion Post 227 of Middleton, and enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, boating, fishing, and travel with his wife and family. He is survived by: his wife, Ethel J. (Mulley) Shedden of Peabody, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. & Darlene Shedden of Peabody; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna & William Callahan of Windham, NH and Laurie & Andrew Coan of Danvers; a grandson, William D. Callahan III of Boston, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elsie Mellen, Venita Foley, Dorothy Mulley, Louise Mulley, and Patricia Newman. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Wednesday August 4, 2010 for his Funeral Ceremony at 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to either the Shriners Burn & Orthopedic Burn Center Hospital, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02116 or to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St. Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
