Obituary of Eleanor L. Trask

Eleanor (Herrick) Trask, 99, of Danvers and formerly of Peabody, died Sunday at the Danvers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Danvers after a Short illness. She was the wife of the late Roger B. Trask. Born and raised in Salem, Ma. on December 1, 1903, she was the daughter of the late Moses S. and Maybelle (Hitchings) Herrick and had resided in Peabody most of her life Before moving to Danvers 5 years ago. Along with her husband she enjoyed many years of active volunteer work with the Peabody Council on Aging, receiving the Person of the Year Award in 1980. Together they participated in the Yesteryears Program Bringing a first hand view of the past to the school children of Peabody. She was a Writer of poetry and an ardent music lover. She was a self-taught musician mastering the Piano, ukulele and recorder. Her poetry was frequently published in the Council of Aging newsletter, Tips & Topics . She is survived by a Sister, Muriel H. Karolides of Danvers, Ma., a daughter-in-law, Alma Bettencourt of Blakeslee, Pa., 5 grandchldren, Lewis S. Bettencourt Jr. of Blakeslee,Pa., David A. Bettencourt, or Roebuck, S.C., Kevin Bettencourt Scotsdale, Az., Leslie J. Bettencourt of Landing, N.J.and Natalie Fajvan of Kackettstown, NJ., 7 great Grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the Mother of the late Lewis S. Bettencourt and the sister of the late Charles and Frank Herrick and Hilda Peterson. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody faciltiy. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 4:00 P.M. following visitation. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
