Obituary of Anthony "Tony" Capozzi
Anthony “Tony” P. Capozzi, 60, of Raymond, NH and formerly of Beverly, died Wednesday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Albert and Marie (Michaud) Capozzi of Beverly. Tony was drafted into the US Army at age 18 and served in the 41st artillery division in Vietnam from 1969 – 1971, when he was honorably discharged as a spec 4.
Tony was appointed to the Beverly Fire Department in April 1976, and worked for the fire department until his retirement in 1993. Tony also owned his own construction company for many years, and after his retirement, he worked part time at Brentwood Machine. Most recently, when he was able to work, he worked with the very gracious people at Kin Kaliper in Peabody.
Tony was a member of the Italian Community Center in Beverly, and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and especially enjoyed camping and fishing with his 2 granddaughters. Tony had a very special undying love for riding his Harley Davidson and traveling with his wife and many friends whom also shared his passion for Harley’s.
Tony leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years, Diane M. (Shairs) Capozzi, his daughter, Tresa A. (Capozzi) LeClerc and her husband James of Peabody, two granddaughters who brought infinite love and joy to his life, Hailey and Kierstyn LeClerc, his siblings, Albert Capozzi Jr., of Beverly, Victor J. Capozzi of Beverly, Nicholas Capozzi of Peabody, Linda Grimes of Salem, Susan Alario of Revere, William Capozzi of Manchester, NH, Michael Capozzi of Danvers, and Vale Capozzi of Salem, and is also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St, Danvers, Ma 01923 or the Beverly Firefighters Relief Assoc., 15 Hale St., Beverly, MA 01915.
