Obituary of Donald E. Shaw

. Donald E. Shaw, 84, of Peabody and formerly of Medford and Somerville, died unexpectedly Thursday morning at Beverly Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Edith (Wedge) Shaw with whom he shared over 29 years of marriage. Born in Sanbornton, NH, he was the son of the late Everett and Marion (Trowbridge) Shaw. He was raised and educated in Tilton, NH, later lived in Somerville and Medford and upon marrying his wife Edith, moved to Peabody where he has lived for the past 29 years. Donald worked in the maintenance department for the Stahl Finish Company for over 40 years before retiring in 1991. Prior to his employment with the Stahl Company, Donald served with the United States Navy during World War II, and was honorably discharged in 1945. Donald was a past Post Commander and Gold Life Member of the American Legion, Post 19 in Somerville. He enjoyed gardening and also served as an usher at St John’s Church in Peabody. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his three children, Kathy Harless of Malden and Therese Cormio of Medford, he is also survived by his 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Brandy. He was the brother of the late George Shaw and Mildred Greenwood. His funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 until 6:00 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
