Obituary of Paul S. Bitchell
Paul S. Bitchell, 52, formerly of Peabody, beloved husband of Ruth (Hogan) Bitchell of Byfield, died Tuesday September 14, 2010 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Stanley and Virginia (Maher) Bitchell. He grew up in Peabody where he attended schools, and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1977. He continued his education at Northeast Institute of Technology and received his degree in 1984. He lived in Georgetown and Byfield communities since 1992.
Mr. Bitchell was a Printed Circuit Board Design Engineer. He worked for many years at American Power Conversion of Waltham, and most recently at Textron in Wilmington.
Paul loved sports of all kinds. He especially enjoyed coaching for the Georgetown Youth Soccer Association. He felt honored and privileged for the crowning achievement of taking two teams to the Massachusetts State Tourney finals, winning one state championship and placing second in another. He was involved with Georgetown youth sports for over 15 years, and was proud to have coached his children. Another great love was going with his family to their place on Ossipee Lake where they all enjoyed boating, fishing and beach volleyball. He enjoyed skiing, golf, the Patriots and Red Sox. He will be dearly missed by friends and family, and truly enjoyed his role bestowing family values.
He is survived by: his wife, Ruth (Hogan) Bitchell of Byfield, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage; two sons and a daughter, Patrick Bitchell, Emily Bitchell and Matthew Bitchell all of Byfield; a sister, Suzanne Smith of Sarasota, FL; an aunt, Anne Marie Mahar of Peabody, and several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as numerous friends. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by a sister Elizabeth “Liz” Henault.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a visitation on Saturday September 18, 2010 from 12 Noon to 2 P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 2 P.M. in the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy are requested to either to benefit the Georgetown High School Sports Team, c/o Linda Curley at Eastern Bank, 125 Washington St., Salem, MA 01970 or to the New England Organ Bank, One Gateway Center, Suite 202, Newton, MA 02458-2803.
