Obituary of Paul C Mead
. Paul C. Mead, 79, of Melrose and formerly of Peabody and Port Charlotte, Florida, died Monday August 23, 2010 at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center in Medford following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Carol A. (McKenna) Mead.
Born in Bristol, CT, he was the son of the late William and Christina (Coan) Mead. He was raised and educated in Bristol and was a graduate of Bristol High School, class of 1948. Following his graduation from high school, Paul enlisted with the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. After his discharge from the military, he attended and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America.
He started his food management career in 1965 and for 25 years he worked for Seilers Corporation in Waltham, the last three years as President of the Company before retiring in 1987. After his retirement, he settled in Port Charlotte, Florida for 17 years before moving back to Massachusetts following the death of his beloved wife in 2005.
While living in Florida he was a member of the American Legion Post in Port Charlotte and was also a member of the Jubilee Yacht Club in Beverly.
Paul is survived by a son Jeffrey Mead and his partner Peter Born of San Francisco, CA, two daughters and son-in-law, Cynthia Mead of Melrose and Jennifer Mead-Hairabedian and her husband, Raffi Hairabedian of Waltham, a sister, Mildred Rakowski of Glastonbury, CT and by his grandson Camden Hairabedian. He was the brother of the late John and William Mead, Anna Waites, Doris Masterbone, and Frances Cummings.
A family funeral service will be held on Saturday September 25, 2010 at 11:30 AM at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the VFW, 20 Stevens St., Peabody, MA 01960.
