Obituary of Sr. Frances Bernadette Poirier, SND

Sister Frances Bernadette Poirier, S.N.D. 91 years of Ipswich died Friday evening at the St. Julie Billiart Residential Care Center in Ipswich. Sister Poirier was born Eleanor Edith Poirier on January 5, 1914 in Beverly daughter of the late Noel and Frances (Poirier) Poirier. Sister entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Novitiate at Waltham on February 2, 1931. She professed her First Vows on July 31, 1933 and her Perpetual Vows on July 30, 1939. Sister received her AB degree from Emmanuel College. Sister’ s ministries were in Lawrence, Worcester, Star of the Sea in Marblehead, Cambridge, Exeter NH, Somerville and St. John in Peabody. Sister is the beloved aunt of Raymond Michaud and Joan Carnevale of Salem, Brian Michaud and Judith Papagelis of Beverly, Barbara Cameron of Pawtucket RI and Ann Jameson of Gloucester and is also survived by her many sisters, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, her many great nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. Pre deceased by her siblings Stanley Poirier and Madeline Michaud. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffrey’ s Neck Rd., Ipswich. Relatives and friends may pay their respects in Our Lady Queen Chapel from 1 - 3 p.m. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich.
