Obituary of Helen Victoria (Dubowicz) Romanowicz
Helen Victoria (Dubowicz) Romanowicz, 95, of Peabody, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 25, 2010. Helen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and “babci” who devoted her life to her family. She loved her life as homemaker, always taking special care to preserve her Polish Heritage through cherished family traditions. She was especially proud of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, celebrating each milestone in their lives.
Helen was born Helen Victoria Dubowicz in Peabody on March 6, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Theodore and Victoria (Urbanski) Dubowicz. She attended Peabody Public Schools, was a member of St. Joseph's Choir, and worked at Hygrade Sylvania on Boston Street in Salem. She was married on August 3, 1941 to Emil M. Romanowicz and shared 55 happy years of marriage until his death in 1996. Helen was a loving gracious woman, with a very strong faith, who took great pride in living independently until her recent illness.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Louis, Bruno, and Walter Dubowicz, and by two sisters, Jennie Cynkus and Frances Halupowski.
She was the mother of five loving children, Marianne Russo and her husband Richard of Lynnfield, Albert Romanowicz and his wife Arlene of Central Falls, RI, Rosemary Fitzpatrick and her husband William of Southport, NC, Jean Marie Marchetti and her husband Philip of Beverly, and her daughter-in-law, Sandra Romanowicz of North Reading. She was the mother of the late Paul Romanowicz
Helen is also survive by twelve grandchildren, Michael Russo, Kara Nies and her husband John, Geoffrey Romanowicz and his wife Teresa, Jared Romanowicz and his wife Laurie, Alex Romanowicz and his wife Alexa, Lauren Romanowicz, Erin, Megan, and Kathleen Fitzpatrick, Christina Bradley and her husband James, Elizabeth Marchetti, David Marchetti and his wife Melissa, and 8 great grandchildren, John and Charles Nies, Sydney, Sofie, and Scotlyn Romanowicz, Kaden Romanowicz, Alice Bradley and Lily Marchetti. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. John’s School, 19 Chestnut St., Peabody, MA 01960.
