Obituary of Robert E. Grant

Robert E. Grant, 70, of Peabody and formerly of Salem, died Sunday morning at Sudbury Pines Extended Care in Sudbury following a long illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Margaret (Dame) Grant. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Evan and Ida (Reed) Grant. He was raised and educated in Salem and was graduate of Salem High School, class of 1958. After high school, Robert enlisted with the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1962. After his military service, Robert attended North Shore Community College and received his associate’s degree in Culinary Arts. He worked for over 25 years as a chef for various nursing homes on the North Shore and for some private schools as well. Robert is survived by his three sons, Steve and Jutta Grant of Millbury, Russell Grant of Amesbury, and Paul and Andrea Grant of West Chicago, IL, a brother, Barry Grant of CA, two sisters, Meredith Mandeville of NH, and Julie McNaught of MA, and by three grandchildren, Tashina, Daniel, and A.J. Grant. He was the brother of the late Priscilla Yee. His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
